Decorated bucchero lid formerly the Bonifacio Falcioni Collection Like all the 19th century collections, the Falcioni Collection is a mixture of pieces, some of which acquired out of pure curiousity. Among the latter we can certainly include this tall lid (the vase to which it originally belonged has been lost) characterized by the effective relief portrayal of a cock, with his engraved plumage and his modelled crest. The object forms part of the production in heavy bucchero typical of the Etruscan city of Chiusi and of the interior of Northern Etruria. |
