The famous episode of Oedipus dressed as a wayfarer who, near the city of Thebes, listens to the riddle put to him by the Sphinx, is the subject of the illustration in the inner ring of this kylix attributed to the painter of Oedipus. On the outside a satyrical farce is represented.
