This large canvas was realized in 2013 for the Holy See Pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale. The Pavilion was dedicated to Genesis, and divided into three thematic areas: Creation, De-Creation and Re-creation, or New Creation. This latter is the theme interpreted by Carroll, through the use, familiar to him, of used, worn and layered materials, which are renewed through a process of prolonged and discreet care.
The title recalls the name of Isatu Sesay, a young girl from Sierra Leone, victim of the Ebola virus, to underline the reparatory and regenerative intention of art.
