Room 31. Contemporary religious art

Three Italian artists, active during the second half of the last century, turn their attention to various quintessentially religious themes: the cross of Christ’s martyrdom, a subject favoured by the sculptor Francesco Somaini, the deposition of Christ, depicted by Alik Cavaliere in a splendid multicoloured ceramic work, and the Pietà, an emblematic theme in the work of Tito Amodei, represented here by a sculptural interpretation and a lithograph belonging to a series entirely dedicated to the subject.
