Sector C. Inscriptions from the city of Veio

This sector comprises the inscriptions found at Veio (Veii), present day Isola Farnese (part of the Municipality of Rome), an ancient Etruscan town absorbed into the territory of Rome, after its conquest and destruction by the dictator Marcus Furius Camillus in 396 A.D., which became, under the emperor Augustus, a Roman municipality, or rather a local community dependent on Rome, named Municipium Augustum Veiens. The texts document the administrative and religious organisation of the city, the names and careers of members of the ruling class, relations with the central government in Rome, worship of the emperor, public buildings (construction and renovation), and tombs.
