This head of a child, slightly turned, with sculpted curls descending sinuously over the broad forehead and softly parted lips, is notable for the high level of expressiveness conferred to it by the quality of the sculptural work. In this, as in other heads produced in Cerveteri and in central Italy, there is the clearly recognisable influence of the art of Lysippus, mediated by Magna Graecia and Taranto in particular, but often re-elaborated and re-adapted to the demands of local production. The head is indeed similar to that of the Capitoline-type Eros with a bow, which would have constituted the scholarly work of reference.
