Clementine Gallery IV

The materials located in this sector of the Clementine Gallery, mostly without discovery data, cover an extensive arc of space and time, extending from proto-historic phases to late antiquity, and connecting cultures located in different areas of the Italian peninsula and in the Mediterranean basin. The wealth and abundance of the items in each case is intended to reproduce, although with scientific criteria, the collectionistic taste for display, which involves the entire collection of the Profane Museum, while the distribution of the artefacts follows a thematic principle, according to which they are divided into three main groups, each with subdivisions, varying in breadth:

  • Group of materials from the pre-Roman and Republican ages (cases I-II)
  • Group of materials from the Roman and late Republican-Imperial ages (cases III-VIII)
  • Group of materials from the late antique age (case VIII)
