Come si conserva un grande museo? L’esperienza dei Musei Vaticani” (How to conserve a large museum? The experience of the Vatican Museums) is not only the title of a volume shortly to be published by Edizioni Musei Vaticani and Allemandi, by the Conservator of the Vatican Museums, Vittoria Cimino. It is also one of the questions posed to professionals in the field, and not only. The book, illustrating a new strategy for the protection of the Vatican collections, will indeed endeavour to answer this question in a very practical and direct rather than in a theoretical way, not only describing the planned protection, care and maintenance of the museum collections, but also offering working examples and rich illustrations.

The presentation of the new volume will be introduced by the Director of the Vatican Museums on Thursday 17 November in the Conference Hall of the Vatican Museums, as part of the Thursdays in the Museums conference cycle.

The introduction by Prof. Antonio Paolucci will be followed by interventions by Giorgio Bonsanti, historian of art and restoration, and Flaminia Gennari Santori, Director of the National Galleries of Ancient Art of Rome. The author will be present.
