Revealing the Present through History

The Vatican and International Expositions (1851-2015)

Thursday 22 June 2017 | 05.30 p.m.
Conference Hall, Vatican Museums

First and last summer appointment, Thursday 22 June, with Thursdays in the Museum conference cycle. At 05.30 p.m., in the Vatican Museums Conference Hall, the volume “Revealing the Present through History. The Vatican and International Expositions (1851-2015), by Micol Forti, Federica Guth, Rosalia Pagliarani, will be presented.
Published by Edizioni Musei Vaticani and co-edited with 24ORE Cultura, the book tells the story of the Vatican’s participation in the Universal Expositions, a topic so far little-explored despite the vast international literature on the Expo, which sheds light on a rich and complex history.

The book will be presented by Antonella Greco, professor of History of Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of Rome, Luca Massidda, lecturer in Urban Sociology at the University of Camerino and Claudio Zambianchi, professor of Contemporary Art History at the “La Sapienza” University of Rome. The presentation will be introduced by Barbara Jatta, Director of the Vatican Museums.
The publication is in a dual Italian/English edition, with a presentation by Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi and a preface by Antonio Paolucci.
