Conference Hall, Vatican Museums

On Thursday 9 November at 05.30 p.m., the renowned architect Paolo Portoghesi and the curator of the Vatican Museums Collection of Contemporary Art, Micol Forti, will present as part of the Thursdays in the Museums series the book by Marco Sammicheli “Disegnare il sacro” (Designing the Sacred) edited by Rubbettino.

The book traces the history of Italian religious architecture in the last fifty years. A prosperous period of new constructions and great experimentation, especially in cities such as Milan, Turin, Bergamo and Bologna.

Marco Sammicheli, lecturer at the School of Design of Milan Polytechnic and editor of the magazine Abitare, has carried out detailed research in the field, providing the reader with an analysis made all the more accessible by Elisa Macellari’s beautiful illustrations.
