Thursday 1 March 2018 | 04.00 p.m.
Conference Hall, Vatican Museums

Thursday 1 March at 04.00 p.m.: first appointment of the year with the Thursdays in the Museums conference cycle.
The programme for 2018 begins with the presentation of the book co-edited by Stefania Pandozy, Director of the Vatican Museums Ethnological Materials Restoration Laboratory, and Mathilde De Bonis, Europlanner: “Ethics and practice of conservation. Manual for the conservation of ethnographic and multi-material assets” (Edizioni Musei Vaticani).

Available in Italian, English and Spanish, the book grew out of the experience and professional results gathered over recent years by the Vatican Museums Ethnological Materials Restoration Laboratory, and is a genuine manual for the restoration of ethnographic material, richly illustrated with colour photographs.

The introduction by the Director of the Pope’s Museums, Barbara Jatta, is followed by texts by Professor Antonio Paolucci, former Director of the Vatican Museums, Fr. Nicola Mapelli, curator of the Ethnological Museum, Ulderico Santamaria, Director of the Diagnostic Laboratory for Conservation and Restoration, Giorgio Bonsanti, historian of art and restoration, and the two editors of the volume.
