No visit to the Castelli Romani can be considered complete without a stop in the picturesque Piazza della Libertà in Castel Gandolfo, where the solemn Apostolic Palace opens its doors for the first time to the wider public of families. The advantageous Family Tariff welcomes them and invites them on an open tour of the Gallery of Portraits of the Pontiffs, with audioguide and on a visit to the Papal Apartment.
The multilingual audioguide will accompany parents and children on a journey through time, through paintings, relics, liturgical vestments and uniforms. Also on display are the sedan chair of Pope Pius IX and the BMW used by Pope Wojtyla during his summer stays at Castel Gandolfo.
An “invitation to the Palace” that you cannot refuse, thanks also to the Family Tariff reserved for families composed of a mother, father and at least two children (aged between 6 and 18 years and/or students up to the age of 25 with valid documentation). The ticket is free for second and subsequent children.
In any case children aged between 0 and 5 years enter free of charge
For the family who would instead prefer to leave the car at home and enjoy a comfortable journey by train, we offer the Saturday tour “By train to the Apostolic Palace – Family”.
A special promotional tariff of 16 Euros per person is reserved to those who, having already booked a visit to the Apostolic Palace, decide upon arrival to participate, on the same day, in a tour of the Pontifical Villas of Castel Gandolfo (Villa Barberini) on board an eco-vehicle. The tour may be purchased directly in loco, according to availability.
If you have already booked online a visit to the Apostolic Palace, or if you have bought a ticket in loco, you can “stroll” in the Villa Barberini Gardens on the same day, taking advantage of the special promotional price of 8 Euros per person. Purchase is possible directly at the ticket office, subject to availability.
