Relief with Assyrian soldiers
Relief with Assyrian soldiers
Room IX. Reliefs and inscriptions from Assyrian palaces

This fragment of a relief originates from Room XLVIII (panel 12) of the South West Palace of Sennacherib (704-681 B.C.) and belongs to a larger sculptural illustration of a city in the West (probably located in Syria) being seized by the Assyrian army. The two soldiers are part of a procession of armed men who, leaving the city gates, carry furnishings and other goods as loot.
