This high lid is certainly peculiar; found without the vase it previously formed a part of, it is distinguished for the effective sculptural representation of a cockerel, with engraved plumage and a modelled crest. It is a heavy bucchero item, typical of the city of Chiusi and of northern inner Etruria.
