Vatican Museums

Thursday 18 February, at 04.00 p.m., the first appointment in the 2016 series of Thursdays in the Museums.

The conference, entitled “The form of the mosaic. La forma del mosaico. Casts of the mosaics of St. Mary Major and the Lateran Baptistery in the Vatican Museums”, is dedicated to the 37 casts of mosaics held in the Pope’s Museums produced between 1930 and 1940, on the occasion of the restoration of these two great monuments of ancient Christian Rome, undertaken in the aftermath of the Lateran pacts.

The introduction by Antonio Paolucci, Director of the Museums, will be followed by interventions by Carlo Bertelli, Matteo Pola, Alessandro Vella and Umberto Utro.
