Seventh volume of the series Art and Faith, dedicated to the sacrament of the Eucharist, its liturgical meaning and its representation in art.
The book, provided with numerous photos, shows, by means of an evocative comparison between biblical words and visual depiction, how the Eucharist, «source and summit of all the sacraments», inspired some of the greatest painters and sculptors, especially of the Renaissance, whose masterpieces are kept in the Vatican Museums.

From the frescoes in the Sistine Chapel, with a special focus on The Last Supper by Cosimo Rosselli, to the works of Raphael Sanzio displayed in the Rooms, and getting through the masterpieces kept in the Pinacoteca, Timothy Verdon analyses the painted subjects and the choices of the artists, giving explanations and interpretations, inviting the reader to a new gaze and showing how the art, like Pope Francis says in the preface, «can represent, with all the limitation of the human ways, a vivid witness of the Eucharist».
