The Liturgical Seasons
The art marks the seasons of the Church
(T.N.)

The series Art and Faith is enriched by a new book – the eighth one – written by Timothy Verdon and dedicated to the Liturgical Seasons. Christianity always marks the passage of time by means of festivities giving a rhythm to the life of the believers. The feasts become an occasion to remember the earthly life of our Saviour, from his birth to his Passion, death and Resurrection. Being depicted so lively and tangibly by artists of all time, these “times of grace” represent the focus of the book.

Thanks to a very rich photographic section, the reader is allowed to examine many treasures coming from the Vatican collections and from several others. Through them, across the centuries art gave visibility to the seasons of the Church. From Advent to Easter, incomparable masterpieces told a Story which talks to all the stories and unfolds in front of the eyes of the reader, page after page. Through these works, the mysteries of the life of the Lord become the filigree of the fragmented and convulsive unwinding of every human existence.
