Vatican Museums

In June 2017, the second edition of the Vatican Coffin Conference took place in the splendid setting of the Braccio Nuovo, inside the Vatican Museums. This publication, in two volumes and in English language, gathers all the contributions given during the four-day conference and explains, through a wide and in-depth photographic set, the results of several complex scientific researches applied to conservation and diagnostics.
The first section presents the essays of the internationally renowned scholars who participated to the conference, sorted by author; the next section gathers the posters displayed during the conference days, and it is followed by an in-depth bibliography, the whole list of the participants, and the list of all the cited coffins with the relative inventory number.

In the appendix there is a useful technical glossary, dedicated to the ‘Coffin Terminology’ and concerning both the coffins in general and their conservation, with a translation into the main European languages and into Arabic.
