Vatican Museums

The series of catalogues dedicated to the study of the ethnological collections of the Vatican Museums’ Anima Mundi is now enriched by this new title, which focuses on the rich and wide-ranging African collection. The project began in 2010 with a mission to South Africa, a significant moment in establishing a direct dialogue with the contexts from which the objects originate, an approach that constitutes a distinctive feature of the Museum.

The book, available in English, is divided into five sections related to the different African areas from which the objects come: Northern, Eastern, Southern, Central and Western Africa. Each section features various items, accompanied by descriptions and striking images of each object. An essential bibliography closes the book.
