Vatican Museums (T.N.)
The new Guide, published on the Jubilee 2025, represents a useful instrument for all those who wants to visit the Pope’s Museums, understanding their history and admiring the many masterpieces they preserve. The book is introduced by a historical-artistic text throwing light on the events and on the people that have contributed, through the centuries, to build a unique and heterogeneous museum complex. The description of the single locations composing the kaleidoscope of the Vatican museums outlines a charming tour, winding along the numerous collections: from the Egyptian and Etruscan to the paleochristian, classical and contemporary art, from the ethnological collections to the sublime frescoes by Michelangelo and Raphael.
The texts, together with the images of the main Vatican masterpieces, are characterized by agility and clarity and are conceived for a large audience eager to discover and “live” the Museums. Useful maps are included, helping the reader to orient himself along the exhibition itinerary, more than seven kilometres long. At the end, there is an interesting detailed analysis about the papal heraldry and its evolution across the millennia.
