The graphic art of the Vatican Museums in dialogue with the Thrivent Art Collection of Minneapolis
Thrivent Art Gallery, Minneapolis
“Art That Unites: A Dialogue between the Centuries from the Vatican Museums and Thrivent Art Collection” is the title of a new exhibition at the Thrivent Art Gallery di Minneapolis in which the Vatican Museums are participating with a rich selection of twentieth-century graphic art from its Modern and Contemporary Art Collection. The project is curated by Francesca Boschetti from the Vatican Museums Department of XIX Century and Contemporary Art, and Joanne Reiling Lindell, Director of the Thrivent Collection of Religious Art.
Through the joint exhibition of graphic works from both collections, the two institutions intend to explore the role of tradition, the fields of religious iconography, the modern religious imagination and ecumenical encounter, initiating an unprecedented and stimulating dialogue in the name of the unifying power of art.
The American exhibition, which opens on 22 April, draws on the Vatican exhibition “The signs of the sacred. The imprints of the real” held in 2019 in the Braccio di Carlo Magno under the direction of Barbara Jatta and again curated by Francesca Boschetti.
