Jubilee 2000 Bell
The colossal bell cast for the Jubilee 2000 belongs to a group of new monuments, often gifts to the pontiffs from various parts of the world, from individual benefactors or entire communities of the faithful. These works, profound testimonies of devotion, are now scattered through the intricate paths of the gardens. Among the historical relics, together with the Jubilee Bell, there is a fragment of the Berlin Wall.
The bell was made of bronze in the Marinelli papal foundry in Agnone. Located in Saint Peter's Square, its tolling announced the opening and closing of the Jubilee. The bronze is engraved with the papal coat of arms and a depiction of the opening of the Holy Door in Saint Peter’s.
