Francesco Borromini 1599-1667
Conference Proceedings (N.T.)
Francesco Borromini, unanimously considered one of the creators of the Baroque architectural language, realised buildings of extraordinary quality in Rome, having a decisive influence on the development of European architecture in the 17th and 18th centuries.
The volume gathers the International Conference Proceedings dedicated to the genius from Bissone, promoted by the Vatican Museums in December 2017, together with the Academy of St. Luke and the Faculty of Architecture “La Sapienza” University of Rome.
The text is divided into three main sections that reflect the three days of the symposium. The first one reiterates the considerations that emerged during the panel discussion. The other two sections contain the contributions of eminent Italian and international scholars who, on the occasion of the 350th anniversary of Borromini’s death, wanted to share their reflections with the general public, providing a valuable contribution to the knowledge of the thought and work of the great master of the Baroque.
In every text different aspects of Borromini’s activity are presented, testifying to his great creative vivacity.
