Museums at Work
Madonna and Child with Sts. Onuphrius, Nicholas of Bari, Bartholomew and John the Evangelist
Room XVII, Pinacoteca
Second appointment, from Wednesday 21 June, with Museums at Work, the scientific-cultural initiative of the Vatican Museums focusing on new acquisitions, recent restorations, and innovative scientific projects.
After the restoration of the triptych of Antonio del Massaro, the programme offers a presentation, again in the Room XVII of the Vatican Pinacoteca, of the recent diagnostic and conservation works concerning the polyptych of the Florentine Giovanni Bonsi (doc. 1366-1371), depicting the Madonna and Child with Sts. Onuphrius, Nicholas of Bari, Bartholomew and John the Evangelist.
The work is the only one signed by the artist, who was distinguished in the panorama of Florentine painting for his extraordinary anticipation of late Gothic accents.
The restoration work was made possible by the generous support of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums (Washington D.C. Chapter).
