Amminadab

Lunette Amminadab

Amminadab, prince of the Levites, sits on the left in a rigorously frontal position, with the torso erect, the feet together, the hands tightly clasped between his knees and his forearms resting on his legs. His expression appears to betray a strong inner tension, with strongly marked features beneath a shock of black hair tied with a white band. The woman on the right is depicted in an unusual pose, in all probability painted from life. She is seated, in the act of combing her long blond hair, but with her limbs turned towards the spectator, twisting the torso and crossed legs in a complex play of torsion. Her back is turned and her head is tilted. Her pink dress is particularly tight, as if it were wet, adhering to the body and revealing an athletic anatomy, especially masculine in her muscular arm.
