Vatican Museums Conference Hall – live streaming

On 25 March, in the Vatican Museums, closed to the public, the 2021 edition of the regular conference series Thursdays in the Museums makes its debut live streaming.
Despite the pandemic crisis, and in confirmation of the uninterrupted editorial activity of the Museum, the first appointment of the year will be dedicated to the presentation of the book edited by Vittoria Cimino for Edizioni Musei Vaticani: “Preventive Conservation in Major Museums. Comparisons, reflections and strategies”.

Introduced by the Director of the Vatican Museums, Barbara Jatta, and by Professor Salvatore Settis, Member of the Lincean Academy, the meeting will involve the collaboration of Massimo Osanno, Director General of the MiC Museums, Fr. Kevin Lixey, International Director of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums, and Vittoria Cimino, Director of the Conservator’s Office of the Vatican Museums.
This will be followed by a Round Table with the authors of the volume.

The book, published exclusively in English, was created as a legacy and in-depth study of the conference on “preventive conservation” that took place in the Vatican in October 2018, and aims to turn the spotlight on the ever-topical issue of the relationship between visitor reception and planned heritage conservation within large museum institutions.
